Princeton Latin Academy was founded in 1988 by Francesco Perrulli on two convictions. First, children need and deserve a sane environment in which to learn. Secondly, a classical education cultivates analytical thinking in them. By hiring educated professionals with a passion for teaching and by limiting class size, he is able to address the intellectual and emotional needs of each student. As a result, the student establishes healthy relationships with intelligent and concerned adults. In addition, participation in performing events, such as the opera, exposes the student to something that has been disparaged by society—beauty, both within and without. By experiencing beauty in the school community, the student learns to express himself positively.
The two pillars of a classical education are the logic of language and the logic of mathematics. A good foundation in grammar and arithmetic prepares the student for analytical thinking in syntax and algebra. Latin, ancient Greek, history, geography, literature, art, music and science are the enrichment subjects of the two pillars. The result is a student who thinks and feels for himself, with a certain knowledge of the universe, with an intellectual capability to process information and with rhetorical skills to express his convictions. Good teaching in a sane environment, dedicated to a classical education, inspires honesty, beauty and joy in the student, who becomes culturally literate, critically numerate and civically aware.

The Three C's of a Classical Education
Cultural Literacy: Students are exposed to beautifully written works of literature which span centuries and countries. These classics speak to humanity's universality.
Critical Numeracy: Students are taught the skills necessary for mathematics, beginning with arithmetic and moving onto algebra and geometry. Just as mathematics is logical, so too must be the instruction of it.
Civic Awareness: Students are reminded of their citizenship to a nation dedicated, if not always in practice, but definitely in principle, to the ideals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
